The return of light

In early February, when winter is still present but the light is already beginning to gain ground, nature speaks to us in a low voice. It is a moment of transition, of subtle rebirth, where life moves again beneath the surface of the earth.

This sacred time is known by different names according to the traditions: Imbolc in the Celtic world, the festival of Brigid, and Candlemas in the Christian calendar. Despite their diverse forms, they all share the same profound message: the light returns and with it hope is born.

Imbolc: the seed that awakens

Imbolc marks the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. It is the moment when the first seeds begin to germinate, still invisible, but full of potential.

On a spiritual level, Imbolc invites us to cleanse, prepare and sow. It is time to leave behind the weight of winter, to listen to what wants to be born within us and to trust in the slow but life-filled processes. The word Imbolc is associated with milk, nutrition, care… the promise of future abundance.

Brigid: the sacred fire and feminine wisdom

Brigid is the Celtic goddess of fire, poetry, healing and inspiration. Guardian of the eternal flame, she represents the inner light that guides, protects and transforms.

Invoking Brigid is reconnecting with feminine wisdom, with creativity and with the power to heal from love. Her fire does not burn, it illuminates. She reminds us that each of us carries within us a flame that can be cared for, nurtured and shared.

Candlemas: the blessed light

With Christianization, many ancestral festivals took on new forms. Candlemas, celebrated on February 2nd, commemorates the presentation of Jesus in the temple and the purification, but retains the ancient essence: blessing the light.

The candles lit on this holiday symbolize divine light, protection and renewal. It is a reminder that light does not only come from outside, but also dwells within us, waiting to be recognized.

One thread, one light

Imbolc, Brigid and Candlemas are different expressions of the same archetype:
the light that is reborn, the life that awakens, the blessing of the new cycle.

This is an ideal time to:

Cleanse your space and heart

Light a candle with intention

Listen to what wants to grow within you

Honor your inner light

You don’t need to do big rituals. Sometimes, a silent flame and a clear intention are enough.

May this time of Imbolc remind you that, even if the path is slow, the light has returned.
Take care of it, protect it and allow it to grow within you.

🕯️ May the flame of Brigid illuminate your path and bless your new beginnings.
